Getting To Grips With Risk & Assurance
Facilitated Online Sessions
Board members focusing on the wrong things?
Compliance trigger points missed?
Board under or over-ambitious for development programme?
Board dynamics not quite right?
Sales risk not recognised?
Conflicts of interest not tackled?
These are all indicators where focus on risk and assurance could be lacking or weak.
This session equips participants to understand their role in risk and assurance, and where and how they fit in a successful risk and assurance framework. It covers the Board’s leadership role in strategic risk and assurance, and the responsibilities of senior staff from Executive Directors down who ‘own’ and provide assurance on key operational risks. It outlines the essentials of managing risk and obtaining / providing assurance; and enhances understanding of the independent level of assurance and which areas need third line defence.
The sesison is available in two versions: The Board’s role in Risk and Assurance aimed at Board Members, and Providing high quality, risk-based assurance aimed at senior staff across functions who have a responsibility for managing risks.
The Board’s role in Risk and Assurance: Outcomes
Board Members will be able to use their Risk and Assurance Framework to focus board time on issues that carry strategic risk; obtain appropriate assurance; guide decision making; and provide a Board steer to executive and management colleagues on the operational risks that if escalated or combined, will have strategic impact.
Providing high quality, risk-based assurance: Outcomes
Senior staff will be able to review and prioritise operational risks; set risk triggers and early warning indicators for each strategic / business critical risk and take ownership of operational risks in their areas of responsibility.
Talk to us if you want to offer a tailored session in house, for Board members, senior staff or both.
