About us
We all know that genuine people who speak with authenticity create better connections than those who sell you a story. That’s why we bring our whole selves into our work. We invest time and heart into building strong, resilient and sustainable relationships with clients and partners so that we can chart a path through challenge and difficulty together.
We meet people and organisations where they are, no matter the back story, and never assume we know the solution before we arrive. We place a high value on an organisation’s internal expertise and knowledge, combining it with our expert input for the benefit of our clients, their employees, and the people and communities they serve.

We are a community of organisational development (OD) and learning specialists and we have been supporting clients with their OD for over 40 years. Our ethos is to collaborate and co-create and we centre our work around two core beliefs:
- People perform best when their values are aligned to those of their organisation, when they feel supported, heard and empowered, when they are managed with compassion and fairness, and when they understand and appreciate the impact of their contribution.
- Organisations perform best when they inspire and guide, when they create safe spaces for learning, innovation and challenge, and when they embrace the value of diversity of people and thought.
Central Consultancy and Training was established in 1979, although it has been previously known as Central Housing Training Services, Central Consultancy Services and West Midlands Housing Training Services. Central was the largest and strongest survivor of a former regional network of housing association group training schemes created by the Housing Corporation. Over 70 Midlands housing associations subscribed to a range of training, consultancy and advice services. Formerly reliant on Housing Corporation grant funding, Central has since reinvented itself as an independent organisation, operating nationally throughout England and Wales, its reach now extends to Local Authorities, third sector, charities and social care organisations.
