Paula is a Social Work England (SWE) registered social worker, who qualified in 2004. She completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Management for Social Work in 2011 at University of Birmingham. She has worked in West Midlands local authorities for over 25 years. Her work has involved connecting with adults with a learning disability, physical disability, older adults and adults known to the criminal justice system. Her roles have included support worker, forensic social worker, team manager, safeguarding manager, service manager and most recently head of service for adult social care.
She has written and delivered training and development sessions for social workers/occupational therapists/support workers and managers, and across multi-agency partners in health, education, housing, private and voluntary organisations. Paula has working experience of legislation in practice: Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Safeguarding Adults, Preparing for Adulthood and learning from Safeguarding Adult Reviews. Paula aims to bring strengths-based practice and language to training and development. A strong value base supports and inspires committed people to challenge themselves to be professionally curious, legally literate, kind and inclusive. |
